Leading the industry
Our 25th Anniversary is a landmark worthy of celebration. It has been a quarter century of remarkable achievement and resilience for SMS, with the most recent years continuing that success.
Today SMS is a business that boasts over $300m in revenues, employs in excess of 1,700 people and services 85% of the ASX Top 20 companies, in addition to many of Australia’s Federal and State Government agencies.
When I reflect on the 25 year journey that SMS has made, I describe it in three periods:
- The start-up years (1986 – 1997)
- The transition years (1998 – 2002)
- Becoming the Regional leader (2003 – 2011)
We have created the timeline below as a snap shot of our journey so far:
In the last year we welcomed two further acquisitions into the business. Renewtek (acquired on 21 September 2010) and Microgenx (acquired on 29 October 2010) have made important contributions since becoming part of SMS.
The recent investment SMS made in the implementation of formal Practices has been a major step in the company’s journey as well. Never before have the development and career prospects for current and future SMSers been so bright.
SMS has been developing its business abroad as well. With offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and a development centre in Vietnam, SMS has grown to become a true regional leader.
Our eyes are now firmly focused on the future. By staying true to our founding principles of adding value, maintaining unity and enhancing reputation, we are confident that our next 25 years will be even better than the first.
